If you can, walk.
Why? Walking can help you sift through what’s important and what’s not. Breathing, being outdoors, changing your line of sight to a horizon… all of a sudden, and without realizing it, that thing we’ve been ruminating on for hours overnight just slipped to the back of the queue. Even if it was just for a second. Giving yourself some space from rumination allows your brain to do the work, without you worrying so much.
I’m not telling you it’s great for your physical health. You can do it in an empty space if people aren’t your thing. With or without a dog. It doesn’t matter how many steps or how fast. If you’re stuck… really stuck… at least you’ve achieved something.
Just walk. It’s also cheaper than therapy.
